India <3

I can’t remember the last time a week whizzed by so fast – it’s so true what they say about time flying when you’re having fun.

This trip was truly amazing, and although it’s the second time I’ve been to Mumbai, it was equally as eye-opening. My time there coincided with the Hindu festival of Navratri (I purposely went during this time) and I never imagined how wonderful it would be. If you don’t know what Navratri is about, it’s basically a Hindu dance festival that lasts 10 days – the actual dancing is called Garba.

I take part in it every year here in London, but nothing compares to the festivities in India. I thought I was relatively good at Garba dancing until I saw how it’s done over there.. imagine being in a crowd of 15,000 sweaty people all dancing outdoors under the stars. Minus the sweaty part (although that simply added to the electric atmosphere), it’s an incredible experience. I suppose it’s like being in a huge moshpit, just with brightly dressed Indians.

To make the experience all the more memorable, there were monsoon rains for the last two days of my trip which was unexpected as the monsoon season is supposedly over. The amount of rain that falls is mind-blowing and deafening to say the least. I don’t think I’ll ever complain about the rain here again! On one occasion we (me and my mate) were on Juhu Beach when the rain suddenly came – there was literally nowhere to go for shelter and we had to go to some random person’s house for help, except their roof collapsed. So many things happened that day – I don’t think I’ll ever forget it.  Oh, and I was on TV twice!
I’ll soon be posting pictures and blogging about my time in Mumbai.

I’m glad the sun’s shining today in London – makes me feel less depressed haha

: )
